League of Women Voters of Texas to Shine a “Light for Our Democracy”

AUSTIN, TX — The League of Women Voters of Texas, along with the League of Women Voters Austin Area, the League of Women Voters of Williamson County, and the League of Women Voters of Hays County invites community members in Austin and the surrounding areas to shine a “Light for Our Democracy” on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Texas State Capitol.

Democracy is not just a system of government—it’s the power of the people. At a time when democracy is under threat, the League is asking people in the Austin area to join them in coming together to defend it. Instead of tuning in to the President’s address to Congress, people across the country will gather with others in their community for a time of reflection, action, and solidarity.

History has shown that change happens when people come together. From the abolition of slavery to the expansion of voting rights, collective action has always been the driving force of progress.
