AUSTIN, TX — In response to Texas’ worsening water crisis, the League of Women Voters of Texas is taking an extraordinary step by endorsing Proposition 4, which addresses water sustainability and long-term resource management.
This is the first time in over 10 years that LWV Texas has a formal position on a statewide constitutional amendment, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the water situation facing Texas communities.
“Proposition 4 funds repairs so that water isn’t wasted. It also invests in smarter solutions like water reuse and aquifer storage, saving water underground for when we really need it,” said Joyce LeBombard, League of Women Voters of Texas President.
The League believes that access to clean, sustainable water is essential for the health, safety, and future of every Texan. Given the dire state of our water resources in Texas, our position is to advocate for measures that strengthen long-term water planning through adequate funding and measures that support conservation, groundwater protection and development.
