Action News! October 2025
In just a few weeks, on Tuesday, November 4th, Texas voters will go to the polls to consider 17 proposed constitutional amendments. The deadline to register to vote in the November election is Monday, October 6th. The first day of early voting is Monday, October 20th, and the last day of early voting is Friday, October 31st.
LWVTX is committed to ensuring that voters have access to trusted, nonpartisan election information. Our Voters Guide and explainer videos are designed to help Texans make informed decisions at the ballot box, and we encourage you to share these tools widely with your communities. More details are in this newsletter.
With recent reports of counties experiencing backlogs in processing voter registrations, it is more important than ever for Texans to check their voter registration status regularly to ensure their information is up to date and accurately recorded. Please encourage your networks to confirm their registration early and often at Vote411.org or through the Texas “Am I Registered?” site.
In addition to our election work, LWVTX has joined with partners in filing an amicus brief in an ongoing redistricting case. The brief emphasizes the League’s long-standing commitment to fair maps and representative democracy. This action reflects our mission to defend the rights of all Texans to have their voices heard through fair and equitable elections.
Thank you for your ongoing dedication and support to empower voters and defend democracy. Together, we continue the League’s proud legacy of nonpartisan advocacy and voter education.
With appreciation,

LWV Members: National Call for Democracy Poems
As poets, writers, and members of the League of Women Voters, we recognize the power of language to connect people, to stir hearts and minds, and to reaffirm the enduring promise of Democracy. Through poetry, we aim to illuminate its beauty, its fragility, and its strength, especially at a time when we can no longer afford to take its core principles for granted. We hope to have LWV poets from every state represented in our anthology. Please submit your poetry by Oct. 15th.
