Fair Maps Texas & The League of Women Voters of Texas
People Powered Day of Action
Event: April 28th at Noon CT
Please join Fair Maps Texas and the League of Women Voters of Texas this week for a specialDay of Action for the 87th Legislative Session.

Mark your calendars! This week, Leagues around the nation will host events to increase public awareness around the redistricting process, and to make sure the public's voice is heard. The official People Powered Day of Action will be on Thursday, April 29th, but there will be events hosted throughout the week.

Join LWVTX and the Fair Maps Texas Coalition as we hold a Texas People Powered Day of Action webinar at Noon on April28th. We will be discussing what has occurred in the legislative session and how these events are shaping our next steps. We will also review the Redistricting Transparency Act (HB 3112) and a bill to end prison gerrymandering (HB 3463). Your efforts will help get these bills a committee hearing before the session ends. To learn more about this event and to register click here.

Aileen, we are encouraging you to contact your own elected officials on April 29th and talk to them about the importance of a fair and open redistricting process. After the mistakes that were made in the 2011 round of redistricting, we need to ensure that the Legislature puts in place a redistricting system that works for the people. If you are able, please reach out to your elected officials ahead of time and schedule an appointment. Talking points will be provided at the April 28th virtual event. Your legislators' information is available on the LWVTX Take Action Center.

LWVUS is hosting a People Powered Day of Action Kick-off Pep Rally at 9 AM on April 29th. The rally is hosted by LWVUS CEO Virginia Kase and will be live at 9 AM CT on this page.

See all the videos on the Hey Texas Legislaturewebpage. Share your favorites or share them all on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. (Perhaps one a day.)

Better yet, make your own to share. Use your phone to make a video! Click here for simple instructions on how to create a very short, impactful video. You speak up and we will package the video to share on social media.
