1919
Marcus Loew, national vaudeville magnate, and S. A. Lynch, one of the most influential figures in the motion picture field of the Southwest, have secured an option to purchase the Empire, Royal and Princess theaters in San Antonio. These theaters are now controlled and operated by W. J. Lytle and associates. The option is good until Dec. 1.

1919
The San Antonio Equal Franchise Society holds their final meeting at the Gunter Hotel and disbands. In its place is organized the Bexar County League of Women Voters.


1960
The epic John Wayne movie The Alamo has its world premiere at the Woodlawn Theater on Fredricksburg Road in San Antonio.
